Speakers: - Dr Edward Dickin of Harper Adams University is a crop physiologist whose work centres on sustainable arable systems, with a particular emphasis on cereals such as wheat and barley. In his role as a guest speaker, he brings together expertise in plant science, agronomy, and agroecology to explore how farming systems can be adapted to meet both productivity and environmental goals.

In this talk, he will draw on the latest findings – including of intercropping research conducted as part of the CROPDIVA project (Cropdiva | Cropdiva). This includes an update on the results of the collaborative work, highlighting how intercropping systems can enhance crop resilience, resource-use efficiency, and biodiversity while maintaining or improving yield performance.

His narrative will connect these findings to broader questions around climate-resilient agriculture and the practical implementation of diversified cropping systems in modern farming.
